# Personal agents

A personal agent is an assistant you run yourself and talk to from Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack or a terminal. Swytchcode runs its API calls: it keeps your credentials, holds calls that change something for your approval, and records every call. See [Personal agents](/guides/personal-agents/) for how it works.

| Agent | How Swytchcode connects | Setup |
|---|---|---|
| Hermes | `swy init` registers the MCP server with `hermes mcp add` | [Hermes quickstart](/quickstarts/hermes/) |
| OpenClaw | `swy init` registers the MCP server with `openclaw mcp set` | [OpenClaw quickstart](/quickstarts/openclaw/) |
| ZeroClaw | `swy init` prints a block for `config.toml`; you grant it to an agent | [ZeroClaw](/quickstarts/more-agents/#zeroclaw) |
| NanoClaw | Agents run in containers; Swytchcode runs on the host over HTTP | [NanoClaw](/quickstarts/more-agents/#nanoclaw) |
| Dify (self-hosted) | Added as an MCP server over HTTP; Swytchcode runs on the host | [Dify](/quickstarts/more-agents/#dify) |
| Any other agent | `swy init --editor=none` writes the skill and prints the MCP server command | [Any other agent](/quickstarts/more-agents/#any-other-agent) |

All of them start the same way:

```bash
swy init --operator --editor=<agent> --project ~/agent-swy   # hermes, openclaw, zeroclaw or none
swy login
```

Then connect the apps the agent will use and chat with it. See [Connecting apps](/guides/personal-agents/#connecting-apps).
